Me, I go elsewhere :!:

I do the same thing. I don't engage in terror tactics because of overcrowding. Surfing would no longer have any appeal to me if I were forced to be a supreme d!ck on a daily basis. Crowds and kooks do not justify sh!tty behavior. I can ignore meatheads out in the lineup. And I do. There was some guy screaming F-bombs every time he missed a wave the other day. Incredibly annoying to have to listen to. I just moved down the beach. However, when that meathead goes on the internet and brags about idiotic, misogynistic behavior-- potentially leading to more stupid antics in the water-- then I'm going to point out the folly of that behavior to the person. You always say we're just trying to help and that's what I'm trying to do.

Back off the insults, personal attacks and blue language rink....I never crossed that line but you most certainly have. We discuss things here and while we don't have to agree (and indeed a better discussion if we don't) there is no place for getting personal.

Yeah, I'm done.

He used to be an Australian but he became an American that sort of sums it up.
Actually I think he became a total worshiper of Mammon.

wiping out is a part of surfing. If you want to keep surfing, you need to learn how to wipeout with minimal harm and/or how to avoid wiping out. When I was a kid my parents had me take judo. I never got beyond a yellow belt just a beginner basically but what they taught me to do really well was to fall without getting hurt. As a beginner they had me just slap the mat for most of the time I was there. Slapping the mat gets you ready to slap the ground when you hit. This takes the pressure off the rest of your body. I got so good at falling that I would do a demo for friends and stand on a chair in my living room (cement floor) and the dive off that chair forward and land on my chest then get back up and do the same thing backwards and then do the same thing on each side and then dive head first and do a shoulder roll one of each shoulder. When I started bodysurfing huge waves this kept me from being injured. I learned to deal with the waves at first without the board so then adding in the board was just a small addition to learning how to wipeout. It went very smoothly for me. So my recommendations for you are are to learn to fall without getting hurt on land first then learn to deal with waves without a board first then do it with a board. Takes a while longer perhaps but it is a safer method
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.
