hey im the good jake supposedly the other one left ...... well i live in wilmington north carolina the wave there are desent size 3 to 4 feet well the other day i was surfin and the the waves were regular but the under tow was amazing the wind was cross shore but me and my friend were surfin we were at the line up and we saw this wave in the distance commin it looked bigger than the other ones by the time it got to us it was single maybe double over head all the surfers balled and dove under it cuz it was crashin it was huge ...!!!!!!! dose any body no y it was soo big there were no storms nothing out of the ordinary plz explain

cool. there was a program on channel 4 a while ago about rogue waves, lilke that, there was a theory i think, but i wasnt listening. id be so scared if that happened to me. hell i get scared when theres a 4 footer coming at me. i realise this has been no help. bye

Hey Jake,

Sounds like a rogue wave mate. I am a sailor by profession and just finished a book on storm tactics, from memory 1 in about 50 waves has the capacity to become a rogue wave. No one is quite sure how they are formed some say two waves joining up and others that they simply come from U/W sizemic movements. What they are sure is that rogue waves can be twice the size of the average waves at that time. Shame you weren't out back to catch the sucker! Welcome to the forum.
