Help with starting

Postby FabioPT » Sat Aug 19, 2006 5:11 pm

I´m looking to buy a surfboard and i already have a few touches in what to buy to start surfing but the prices and conditions of surboards i´ve saw in surfshops doesn´t satisfy me.

I saw a 7`3 second hand costing 285€ but it had alot of wax in it which didn´t look alright but at least it had a leach to offer.

I´ve checked many surfshops and most of the surboards i´ve saw are from 400€ up which i find pretty expensive to spend for a start until i´ve found one yeasterday costing 300€ with a height of 7`4...i liked it,is that a good price?

It´s still expensive for me so perhaps i could get a deal near the shop if i buy a wetsuit and some accessories.

I´m checking from 7`3 up but can i start with a 7`0 ?

My height is 6`0 and my weight is 165lbs.

I will be surfing in the portuguese coast which is always a great place 8)

Btw hello all :D

Not sure what prices are like across the pond - in the States, $200-$300 for a used board, depending on condition, isn't a bad price.

Don't worry about how much wax is on it.. you'll want to take off all the wax and re-wax it anyway. Leave it out in the sun for an hour and just wipe it off.
