Knee issue

Postby Dec » Sat Apr 29, 2006 10:18 am

Ok ok, I am a bit rusty, because I havent surfed for about 4 months (seasons), but as I pop-up my front foot kneels down and my back foot stands.

Its really cheesing me off.
Any advice?

So, as i pop up...My front leg doesnt stand, like normal, it kneels down.

Am I poping up too quick or what?

Okay, rusty I understand

Ive not been in the water for a few weeks and I feel like a complete kook land-lubber all over again. When I get in the water later this week, it could be interesting...

So your front foot lands as normal but then kneels forward?

Pushing all your weight forward from the back foot maybe? A bit too much enthusiasm to getting down/along the face before you're really up? :?

Being a bit overly ballet-like and going up onto your toes too much?

I only ever have problems with popping up if Im too tired (that's easy. Go for a rest, and more caffeine) or if Im not confident (big days or whatevr) and Im too tense to swing into position naturally.

Surf more, thats the answer :D

Do a bunch on land to get back into it...you do know how to do it, you just have to get your body back into the motions...

I have been practising loads and loads, and find popping up on land just fine now...

This morning I got my wetsuit on, and decided to do a couple in my lounge before I went down to the sea.

It is so much harder popping up in a 5/4 wetsuit! It's so heavy and inflexible.

I think I better start donning my wetsuit in the evenings to practise!
