howdy all,

Wow, you guys have no idea how lucky you are. Im 16 and live in Canada, in the middle of the prairies(feilds) I have dreamed of surfing all my life, and i really wonder why i was not born near a coastline. ahh, i want to surf SO bad, my room is covered in surfing stuff, and some of you guys may call me a poser but ive been through that too, ive snowboarded for 6 years, i skateboard and wakeboard all ive got left is to surf. But anyways, the only place to surf inCanada is in tofino, BC. Hopefully i will be going there or maybe even to Hawaii next year! and finally live my dream!! Haha, im so pumped ive started training and practicing my popups. Ive read this site over and over, lol and i rented Endless Summer 1 and 2. You guys are so blessed to have beaches and waves. But yah, i just wanted to talk to some surfers, cuz no one here in cowboy town cares about surfing. haha So if you guys have any cool stories, i will be on the edge of my seat reading them. Thanks alot
keep it real

Hi there

I think there are probably more places to surf in Canada than you think:

http://www.globalsurfers.com/country_details.cfm?land=Canada

Also, you should find out about lake surfing- some of the great lakes can get overhead on a big swell!

Check it out!

yeah, i'm gonna try lakesurfing this summer-it's the only water i can get to!

Superior is probably closest to you, but it's deathly cold and the bugs eat you alive on the shore(alright, it's not that bad!)

Huron is also close, and the waves don't get as big, though up in the north channel they're bigger than down by the thumb of michigan.

Trust me your not the only one who lives in a bad place to surf...... I live in phoenix right in the middle of a dry desert! Ive been serving a couple times in CA but its like a 7 hour drive so i dont get to go that much but let me tell you that once you try it you will save every penny to go surfing. Good Luck

canadian surf

Postby n.lights » Sat May 15, 2004 7:27 pm

hey. iam from ottawa and needless to say there ain't no
surf close to me either. my solution: stay calm and save by
money and get away whenever i have the chance.

i have heard good things about surf in B.C. (which isn't THAT far from you -canadian distances here) i would like to try and get out to Nova Scotia soon to check that out.

i agree with some of the other surfers on this sight. start saving
up some money. when your done high school you should have several
thousand dollars and you should get on a plane and go to australia. you could get a australian work visa and work and surf your way around australia. you would have a blast and might never come home!!
