I'm Looking for surfboard advice. Beginner/intermediate le

Postby makeljorge » Sat Sep 12, 2020 2:23 pm

Hello guys!

I'm been surfing for 3 weeks almost everyday my surfboard is 7 foot soft Top ( 21 1/4" 2 1/2" 56.7L ).

I can comfortable standing and paddling on it and catching unbroken wave and white water, so now I can turn the surfboard to the right and left , but after days of practicing going to the left and right suddenly I started to feel the surfboard are so heavy when I try to turn it does it mean I still lack of skill to turn it or Its time to me to get another type of surfboard to improve my surfing and also I want to learn the maneuver in the future.

I'm 165cm male, 57kg.

Thank you guys.

After three weeks you won’t have the skills to move into a new board

But is your board still in good condition- it may be taking on water

Or maybe the waves are now slightly different and you are hitting up against the limitations of your skills

Where is the rudder on a boat ? In the middle of the boat or the back of the boat ? At the back, right ?

To turn a surfboard you not only lean but also PIVOT off the fin(s), which is at the back of the board. If your board feels heavy or stuck to the wave, you are probably too much in the middle of the board to turn it.

( but the answer to your problem isn't just to step back further )
