After another session, where I tried to put in practice all of tips give thus far, I think I came up with the first thing I really need to improve on:

How do I gain speed while staying on the top part of the wave?

I don't think that on weaker waves there can be a true bottom turn , at least I never managed to accomplish one without stalling. I have seen guys rip after angling, turning, leaning into the wave face right after take-off, then pump and gain speed while staying on the upper part of the wave. So most time that is what I need to do, just seems weird that you can get so much speed without much downward motion.

If I could do it all the time I'd be a lot better than I am....something to aspire to....that video is perfect though; I'm a visual learner and that is a clear visual....

So I saw this picture on a post about the Eddie surf contest, isn't this also a poo stance?

NO it is a big wave stance balancing the speed of the ride with the extra weight cohones, the Eddy contestants carry as part of their credentials

That's why people call it the " Waimea Stance". But that's okay at Waimea not in Waikiki. So if you hear some local say " Ho, check out his Waimea Stance ! ", he is teasing the Poo Stance the newbie is doing riding 1 foot waves.

But notice in the photo that Eddie's head is in-line with his back, leading thru his feet, which is squared up to the angle of the board. Poo stance , the head goes out to the side, countered with the butt sticking out.

Enjoy the compliment, and keep the stoke, although your cold waters would put the cohones as two lumps in your throat!

Actually, this winter's been so warm generally , I have had sessions when I felt uncomfortably warm in my 6mm wetsuit and 5mm gloves.
I kinda want to go out only in 30F or below air temperature.
