Small waves

Hi Edmundo, welcome to Surfing Waves.

If you are new to surfing then pick a beach break (sand) with small surf and that is not prone to freak waves or strong rips. If you are unsure of local beach conditions or what is under the water (rocks, reef etc) then ask someone, either a local surfer or beachgoer - or even better a life guard or beach patrol.
Try to use a patrolled beach with people on it as this is a good safe option to learn to surf.

Thanks I was kinda confused about what opptimal conditions really were.
I was also confused about where to surf in relation to Florida (west or east side) I've heard that its better to surf on the east side because the wind normally blows inland. What stinks is that the east side is farther away. I guess i should just do a lot more research on areas near me that are good?
Thanks,
Edmund
