begginer east coast, where to start

I live in virginia beach, va and want to start surfing. Any suggestions on where to go? Is North Carolina a possibility?

Well I of course think you should head down to Florida on the Atlantic Coast; if you wanna try surfing by yourself of there are so many sweet surf shops and places that you can get lessons.

Ok... You mentioned Florida. I live in Florida and I'm a beginner. Where at in Florida?

I hired a board from a surf shop in Melbourne beach, the locals seemed to be friendly enough.

I was chatting to some of them - they were surprised to see a british surfer out there!

That whole stretch of coast gets good waves and has plenty of places to rent boards/ have lessons.

ya i am from Seminole in the winter and Daytona beach in the summer, but right now i am stuck in ohio for college, u?
