Perfect Pop Up???

Postby mastap » Tue Aug 12, 2008 4:36 am

I've been surfing now for a couple months- started on a longboard and had no trouble. I'm now attempting to ride a shortboard and am having trouble popping up. I can get into the wave easily but dont know exactly when to pop up. I'm having trouble getting my legs all the way underneath my body...

any advice??

yeb around your weight and height it should be no problem standing up. go ahead start the shorty and spend some time in the water and you'll be ripping like the other skinny kids i see around everyday.

Lower center of gravity always helps in surfing.

Perfect popup for me is left foot firmly planted, heel of right foot and knee across board, then up on right foot. Working on the all at once thing... not enough strengths to lift me to that just yet.
