Another "bottom turn" question

Postby teaweed » Sun Aug 10, 2008 8:38 pm

Do you guys have any problems losing speed during the bottom turn sequence? I've been working on riding the face of the wave and this issue has been hurting that progression for some time. Am I putting too much weight on the back? How much is too much?

I am using a 6'6" thruster.

Thanks.

pressure on your back foot, guide with your front foot

compress your knees at the bottom and release when your coming out of the turn. if you stay compressed youll lose momemtum

are you like stalling out? if your stalling out at the end of the bottom turn then you just need to pump more i guess

if you are stalling on bottom turn which would make you lose almost all your momentum then its likely you are applying too much pressure on the back foot or you are not making a smooth turn to the top

Yes, stalling would be a more appropriate word for it.

less pressure on the back, compressed legs... How about upperbody posture? I normally look slouched.

It seems like I'm asking for too many details, but I'll try different suggestions and pinpoint the problem.

You can also do a small pump while doing your bottom turn to help keep your momentum up.
