Looking to trade academic/SAT tutoring for OC surf lessons

Postby JoeSchmoe » Sat Jun 07, 2008 8:05 pm

Hey all,

I've never surfed in my life, but this summer, I want to learn, and I live about 5 minutes from Huntington Beach in OC. All the ads for private lessons I've seen are pricey, so I'd like to trade if anyone is interested -- my skills for yours! I'm a tutor with Kaplan Premier, B.S. and M.A. from Georgetown University, and I can tutor anything from SATs (scored 2370 out of 2400) to math (up to AP Calculus) to English, Poli Sci, or whatever else you need. I'm thinking a 1-to-1 trade, my time for yours. Is this something anyone here would be interested in? Let me know, just reply /PM me here, and we should be able to work something out. :)

Thanks,
Joe

good idea dude....

if noone takes you up on it tho, i doubt you'll need private lessons. how much are group lessons in your area. you should only need 1 or 2. just enough to get up standing, and starting to do a few very basic turns... and a little bit on etiquette and safety. the rest really is up to you... not much someone can tell you that will be worth paying for after that.

You really don't need surf lesson. Just go take a mini mal or longboard and have fun. That's a lesson for free.

I still say it would be great to have someone out there with you who can just give you pointers here and there. Especially if you don't have to pay them $120 dollars an hour, or whatever that usually costs. Good thinking by JoeSchmoe...

Thanks for the advice, guys :) I may end up just doing a 1-week course if I can't find anything, and making a go of it on my own from there. My offer's still good, though, if anyone's interested!
