I bought this board late last summer, i don't even know the brand, it says freedom on it, its 6'8'' and its a fun board shape. i'm 6'1'' and around 175-180 depending on what i eat and in some sort of shape..
got it used for $190 bucks i figured it would be a perfect starter as i was just beggining to learn at the time..
its really heavy, but i guess its tough too and thats what i really need because i was a noob, i still am..
how ever the other day i went out with my girlfriend and she has an 8 foot clay bennet long board and i rode it a couple times and my god it was so much easier to catch waves, i stood up albeit for a couple seconds because i had my feet in the wrong places (wasnt really used to the board)
but i mean all in all her board weighs almost a third as much as mine does, on top of that i havent had TOO much progress on my board, i made the mistake of learning to surf with some really good guys and while they were out tearing it up i was just trying to get out of the way etc.. but i do go at the very least once a week, i live i jacksonville beach and while the surf isnt awesome here i mean its enough, today we had some.
so i'm a little confused as to what i'm doing wrong, for the longest time i couldnt stand and still i'm quite shakey when i do get up, today me and my friend went out into the open faced waves and i got one perfect, i noticed that the faster i went my board was a lot more stable, but as i tried to get some more big ones i ended up eating it..
pretty much i was just wondering if i should save up for a long board or grind it out with the one i have?
i mean it rides really nice once you get a feel for it, its just that after nearly 10 months i would have hte hang of this...
i dunno, i plan on going out a lot more though because summer is coming up.. maybe i just need more practice, any one here have a similar problem?
