Carving 360?

Postby Guest » Wed Apr 02, 2008 4:30 am

Ok, I can sort of do one, but the only problem is that when I do the 2nd 180, the board gets around and just sinks. I'm guessing I need more speed? I'm not too sure what it is..

The trick is position on the wave and as you said speed into the manouvere. In order to ride it out you must ensure the initial 180 is aimed for the highest point on the shoulder of the wave, this will produce downward momentum for the second 180.
If you aim high on the wave and spin quickly the wave will produce the speed necessary to ride it out.
Sorry to use the cliche but it really is just practice. 8)

do you mean a round house cut back, with a turn off the lip after bringing it back around and spinning 360?

What board do you use...some board have a better tail foil and allows the surfer to turn sharper.

nah, I can do those. It's like when you turn up to the lip and do a 360. I have a 5'10 jc Hawaii it has a rocker on it. It slides out nice, its just weird like my board does it but sinks at the second 180.

all i can think with out actually see it happen is it needs to be done in a more critical part of the wave (the power section which not all waves will have suitable one)

hope that helps:)
