I was researching a surf trip to the Canary Islands and wanted suggestions on which to go to (I ended up going to Lanzagrotte). Bluesnowcone was the only regular to give some advice with 5 words of an obvious genious:

No, seriously, whose first post was a "which board should I buy"

Came here cause i had just started learning to surf

first post was something about how i bodyboarded and that id never give up bodyboarding but id do both - how things have changed

I hung around cause i live and breath for surfing so what better place to hang around than a surf forum

I think my first post was about surfing in Phuket. Something like that.

I think the majority of people that stay here, they're first posts aren't whihc board. They tend to realise they're mistake and leave

I stick around cos the people on here are friendly and its a nice relaxed forum. Again like KS found it trawling the net one day at work and here i am.

First post was East or West whats best.

..not entirely sure, but i think i was looking for surf reports, and then saw a post about a local break and thought everyone seemed cool and friendly so stayed for a chat ..and as time progressed i realised that this is one of the very few global sites which has been set-up , run and maintained by someone who gives a s*** about their site and forum.. all hail the mighty SP

I stay because using a keyboard is now the only form of written communication im permitted to use.. now that i have been banned from owning pencils, pens or any other sharp implements which may cause harm to others or myself. I are soon allowed to have buttons again and maybe one crayon and fuzzy felts, but only if i behave and stop trying to eat people or mate with their deceased family pets.

I'm one of the kooky ones who joined to ask about my first board! BUT I had read the main site, previous threads, and other stuff and asked an, if not interesting, informed question.

As for staying, lots of reasons:

-Nice folk who seem, unlike most folk on forums, to have actual lives!
-A good variety of folk from different warps of life, different parts of the world and with different (apart from the obvious) interests.
-Minimal flaming, none of this bull...excrement that is rife in places like beneath YouTube videos.
-Funny people; posts like CheeZee's (see above)
-Somewhere to ask advice when others can't help.
-A place to go when board.
-Oh...I too have no friends!

oh, i ment to say, i stay here also for the babe of the day thread.

I can' t really remember why...i think it was to find more people to surf with...i was part of a skydiving forum before, but as i can't afford to do that at the moment, i found you people

...and i'm really glad i did. Apart from the occasional muppet, that never stick around anyway, everyone is really friendly, and no-ones up themselves.

My first post was about...............err can't remember
Why did I stick around, well because, when ever I needed to type about any problem, be it going over the nose of my board for the millionth time, or the fact that my g/f had just been diagnosed with a terminal illness (she ok, it was miss diagnosed and she had op now), there was always someone there with an answer, or a post that either solved the problem or made me smile. And believe me, making me smile, or even laugh is not easy.
Plus I get to type about how wonderful I am as a surf dude..........albeit now I'm a longboarder....................... mmm longboards are they cool?, now where did I put that guide to shortboard sizes? I'm 6.2, and 500lbs can I ride a 4'10" board................
