Checkout the new laptop!!!

Nice eh?

Anyhoo, question is what program do you use to listen to music on your computer?

I used to use musicmatch jukebox, but they got took over by Yahoo and now I think it's too similar to itunes, which I don't like (don't ask why).

Any recomendations?

The old version of winamp (v2.95) in my opinion the best version that was ever released. Simple, stright foward compact and doesn't splash crap all over your screan. :)

You can still get it on the Winamp website.

I use both a Mac and a PC, and use iTunes on both.

Have just spent the past couple of hours reloading ALL my music back onto my Mac from a portable hard drive. I thought i'd well and truly broken the Mac, fixed the hard drive, formatted it and reloaded the stuff I needed, no problemo since. Must have been a knackered file. Saying that, I bet the machines happy now a ton of craps been taken off

I mainly use Media Monkey :D
:dj:

or try Teen Spirit - cool cos it has a music quiz in it, you have to guess which tune from your collection based on a small clip, higher score the quicker you choose correctly. Hours of fun with a big music collection. :D

or many audiophiles recommend Apollo for its superior sound quality even tho its no longer being developed any more ( http://koti.welho.com/hylinen/apollo/ ),
also many like JetAudio

http://www.artificialspirit.com/

check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_media_players for a few other choices  !

Okay

So even though there was a majority praising winamp I've gone for Teen Spirit, couple of reasons, 1. it only offered one download ie it didn't have basic and pro ($19.99) applications, 2. The quiz, you gotta love that.

I use an external hard drive for my music and when playing through my old pc with Music Jukebox there was loads of duplications, tracks that wouldn't play, track and albums with no names etc. Plug it into my laptop with Teen Spirit and it all works and is showing all tracks correct!

:D :D :D

Cheers for all your help!

and you might want to take things a little further than merely playing the tunes from your computer, like mixing the mp3s with something like Traktor 3 ( http://www.native-instruments.com/index.php?id=traktor3 ) which retails at about £115 ...but erm bit torrents do exist...

*ahem* http://thepiratebay.org/details.php?id=3415815

I have turntables for that type of nonsense!

Might check it out though as piratebay is my home page!

I just did the quiz on Teen Spirit, I think I only got about 3-4 out of 20 right, what was more embarrassing was some of the crap I have in my music collection.....who the feck put Scooter on my machine!?!

  yeah I have the same problem as I keep downloading compilations of music like "the top 1000 tunes of the 80's" or "40 years of hits from a funky house perspective (7GB)" ! and then the other annoying thing is that the tunes aren't all id tagged correctly so the choices come up in the quiz with "track 2" or "CD1". I just checked my music folder and its up to 60GB now  .
