crappy board

Postby invermont » Sat Jul 07, 2007 8:16 pm

i'm just beginning to surf but i am determined to go all the way with it and so i'm buying a board rather than renting[ not to mention i couldn't rent if i wanted to. no surf shops for something like 500 miles]
thing is, i'm broke and just want something dirt cheap and beat up- like almost- on -it's- way- to -the- dumpster-but-only-20-bucks kind of thing. does anyone know where i could look? i'm trapped in upstate vt.

You wanna check places like eBay really. I'm sure you might be able to pick something up at a carboot sale or something? :)

I have heard of people finding boards at the local tip, ridiculous what some people will throw out - might be worth a try....if you dont mind looking like a bit of a pikey

About a year ago one of the beach restaurants down St Ouens Bay was being gutted for refurbishment (still hasnt been done!!!)... was walking down towards the Splash one day, saw loads of smoke and ran up the stairs thinking the place was on fire. Was much worse than that though...

Builders smashing up (with sledgehammer things) loads of boards and then tossing the broken bits onto a huge bonfire.

Talk about sacrilege! I'd happily have given them sanctuary in the shed.
