raaargh excercise !!

Postby CheeZee » Tue Jun 05, 2007 4:12 pm

Well .. after three weeks of avoiding actually turning up at the gym i had joined and then bailed out after my induction .. last night i hit it hard !
After my trip to Devon last week and my complete exhaustion (sp) from paddling around like a fool trying to catch any tiny wave i could and then the following embarrasment of not having the strength to pop up (even onto one knee let alone anything else  )... i have returned to the mystical grunty world of ..... " The gym " !!!!

.. Circuit training on every piece of equipment and then cardio inbetween ! .. apparentely my Hulk of trainer dude is gonna put me on a diet that will apparentely make me sick because of the amount of food i will have to eat ?!! ..and then Whey powder this and nutrient mix that ?!

on top of this i have returned back to my ' 5wk greenless wagon' that i fell off a couple of weeks ago , bumpy journey ..i clung on for as long as i could ..honest  ..so lets see what all this does for a dude !!.

lol ive been told not to panic as i will increase body weight dramatically but thats all part of the proccess but after seeing some of the tubby big armed dudes last night , im not convinced the extra weight thing is gonna be my thang ..as i9m guessing if i let up from the excercise regime for even a week then i'll pile on the lard quicker than ever ( worrying!)

I know excercise comes up often but not usually from me lolol ! ..so if anyone has any idea what my new hulk of a trainer has planned for me and can offer any advice .. " go for it !

oh yeh .. obviously this post is totally open for any p***taking on my account, as i can take as good as i get and you knowz it

.. Chippy is my gym buddy!.. so far hes winning with the two ounce bar .. fleshing showoff

Cheerz bro .. i kinda got into it last night once i'd stopped wandering around like a lost noob. Its a proper meat head gym ..hehe there were faces in there i havnt seen since i was last in court (im joking!) ..but i held my own by finishing off my sesh' with a high speed run on the mill whilst sparring .. hehe .. unless youve boxed then you cant do that sheet ..not without dissapearing quickly off the back of the thing ! .. so i left with an 'accepted in' grin from the regular man mountain patrons  8)

all good .. lets see if i can keep it up ay ?!

Well I would make sure of just what he thinks your goals are. There is a reason that you dont see any big surfers. Lean and strong is the way to go.

yeh B' .. i told him im not going for 'his size' of arms and such ..just want to be fit and lean like you say ..but he still insists that this diet will be helpfull so im guessing the dude is going to tailor it to my needs and such ?!
Obviously i'll ask questions as time rolls on but i know a good few of you guyz (and gurlz) hit the gym often and have got the physique your after already, so i'll listen to all and anyone cause i know from the past that each trainer has 'their own way' of doing things but sometimes that can be a bit of.. ' even if this isnt actually what the dude needs ..fleshit ..thats what im gonna make him do' cause it suits me sort of thing , ya know what i mean ..

so as and when he gives me this diet i'll drop my body weight details and such in here, and what hes suggested i use ( protein and whey etc) and you knowledgeble peeps can maybe just say .. " whoa bro .. go steady on that stuff and such " :D

Diets!?!

My colleague rows for the Scotland team, you should see the amount of crap he stuffs in his mouth!

I know nothing of these things as I am naturally "slim", but I see what you mean about bulking up, then giving up and it all turning to fat.

Protein/whey really makes you put on weight fast.... but unless you're doing shed loads of exercise it goes on as fat... worse still, it goes on as girl fat! It goes straight to the boobs
Phyto-oestrogens and all that.

If you wanna get fit in the gym, it's a lot flippin' easier to lose weight and firm up first, then build up (if you want to). And if you wanna lose weight, eat your protein instead of carbs n' lard.

Think I'd be talking to a different trainer if I were you...

lol its no where near as bad as that... :)

If you've told your trainer that you want to build muscle and then lean out then he'll do you a diet of about 20% fat, 40% carbs and 40% protien, and you'll be eating about 250 / 500 calories more than your body needs a day, meaning you will build muscle faster because your body has the excess calories it needs to grow (but not excess enough for too much of it to go on as far). If it's a clean diet (no chocolate etc) then you'll put on minimal fat, which is usually REALLY easy to burn off afterwards anyway.

When lifting weights, your tearing your muscle fibres, and inside of the protein is amino acids which is used by the body to rebuild the torn muscle fibres that little bit stronger to be able to cope with the weight in which they torn previously - thats why you'll be eating/drinking the protein :)

Protein doesn't get put on as fat if unused anymore than carbs would; besides, most protein shakes are about 200cals (about the as much as two medium bananas)

Regardless of how much muscle you want to put on, the excess calories will help you build that muscle so the chicks will drool over you on the beach ;)

I wont even think about arguing that one...especially cus I used to be a competitive swimmer. Though if you are doing weights, I would say ask for a swimmers work out. Works mostly shoulders and upper back and core. If you are going for the aesthetic but still work muscle, then giv'er(not knocking people that do that, cus it is still better to be in shape regardless of your reasons)

I would be a little concerned too.

But, if you're doing a boat load of exercise, you will need the extra calories to get through it. But, it sounds like he's feeding you a lot.

This is all just an opinion from someone who doesn't really know a lot about it. I've got my own routine, and I ramped up my food intake a little so that I don't feel like crap and I'm going to pass out when I'm done.

Find out how much he's going to recommend you eat first, it depends on your height, activity levels etc.

I'm 6'1 and started eating 3500 calories a day and shot up from 11st to 14st in a few months with very little fat put on.

firstly ... Jen .. moobs , that is the first time ive heard em called that .. lovin it lmao ...gettttt

..matt ... gettttt .. to the power of infinity times a couple lmao

..and NO Thaya i will not have a six-pack in time for the meet and wouldnt want one even if it were possible ! ..i like cake .. what can i say lolol

right then ..

im hovering between 78-80 kilos, 5'11" ..i have retained my shoulder and back muscle from kickyboxing, but my arms have skinnyed down over the last two years .. legs have lost all but some muscle definition and i have the 36yr old paunch belly that inflates and deflates depending on how much bread i eat ! . My " moobs/ pec's " (loving that lmao) square off depending on general excercise i have in a week but take maybe a month to return to what they once were if i hit the right gym equipment hard enough over that period of time ! .

What seems to happen is ..if i train regular then an older version of what was', seems to be just hiding under the flubber! Im guessing all the years of kickboxing has left a physical blueprint as it were and as long as i get this diet right then i should get back to form within reason (age taken into account on the metabolism jive ! )

The regime hes stuck me on basically uses every piece of bloody equipment in the gym on a 3x circuit basis , inbetween i am running/ cross-training and rowing . I told the dude i was never muscle-bound and in fact unless istarved myself you wouldnt really see much difference between me and a skinny reasonably fit dude .. my chosen sport was all about stammina and so the training involved was based on that .. this is why even tho i look like a paunchy duder , i can still run like a mo'fo over distance and the same with cycling .. digging deep into your stamina is as much a state of mind as it is physical fitness (..grasshopper!).

Nice one Mr. Joe .. that was usefull input many thanks.
I know some of you lucky fleshers dont have to maintain a diet etc cause you have a good physical routine and maybe dont love cake as much as err some of us!, but for us oldens ..we have to utilise every bit of help available in the anti-flubber stakes

Many thanks all .. i've noted everything and will bounce a lot of your info off of my trainer .. " i dont want to be on such a thin line of training that one scone will undo everything and at the same time dont want to waste my own time .. so many thanks all

p.s Jen .. still lmao darhlin

lol it's never as bad as that; I regually pig out on all sorts of crap and never notice a difference (im 22 though so that might have something to do with it) but usually it starts to show after a good few weeks of wrecklessness :)
