Wounded.

I knew it was a bit sketchy as I paddled out. I could see the lip was beginning to dump just at the suckiest section of the reef, but I paddled out anyway. Sitting just outside the take-off zone, I could see that some of the groms were struggling to make it over the crumbly section and were kicking out just before the reef's tip. I waited for a little while, and then a much larger set came through, putting me right at the shoulder on a wave that should have been enough to push me over the dry section. I paddled in and immediately slotted into a barrel, but had to push really hard to get out of the green and back into daylight. Down the face and onto the flats, I could see the reef only a couple of feet away, so I pushed back up to the lip, and just as I'm about to pull the re-entry, some dude from a magazine, pushes his camera right into my face, so I had to stall the board to stop from skewering his head. The board got bogged down just as the lip came over and I ended flying over falls, right onto the reef. I got mashed down and held under for, like, a minute. I popped up just as another set came in and got held down again. Felt like an hour under there. Finally, I got back to the channel and could paddle back onto the flats. Coulda been worse, the only wound I had was a gnarly slash in my hand. I had to get out though as I was worried about what all that blood in the water would attract.

This is of course, complete bollox.

I slashed my hand doing the washing up this morning
A fleshin' glass broke as I was washing it and slashed right into my index finger, and there was blood everywhere.
I did have to stop (washing up) because of all the blood in the water though

Just off the see the doc and get it stitched up

Ouch, just remember salt water is good for wounds.

Oh what a fun day its been today...
They couldnt stitch the slash cos it would have restricted the knuckle, so its been glued up and bound up. And Im not supposed to get the glue wet!!!!!!

Well, we'll see.

Typing with a bandaged finger is a bugger.

Pah, not long. If the opportunity for a wave comes up, then the bandage comes off

I'd better keep it dry for a few days at least, but as I'll be at work, that wont be a problem.

The first story sounds so much more impressive! :) Is that what you'll be telling the girls at work when they ask you what happened to your hand?! :)

lol.. " Washing up is best left to women folk as it falls under my heading of .. " frontline domestic warfare " and as such only women have the strength or the stomach to take on such a task ..

(the CheeZe management would like it known that Mr.CheeZe does all his own domestic chores as a proper new-age-single-dad should lmao.. but would happily pay someone else to do it for him ..especially if they could wear one of those naughty maid outfits etc etc .. and that is not a sexist comment/request ..its an allergy thing or something).. i thank you .

Just read this thread  I totally fell for it

nice to know that random accidents happen to other people too... washing up can be a DANGEROUS thing!!!

hope it's all healing nicely and not hurting too much.

The glue stuff is really good - almost embarassingly so. It was a nice clean slash, only an inch long, and the glue has held it together so well you can barely see it!

Maybe I was making it up. Maybe I was dreaming. Maybe I just made a fuss

Although the numerous blood spots I keep finding around my flat suggets it wasn't entirely in my head. Most of it was on the floor

There's nothing worse than getting a decent manly wound, (albeit for doing the dishes  ) you big it up to your pals and then its disappeared a couple of days later when someone asks to see your mighty gash!
