Umm no, you're touching a bit fleshin' close to home today.

My brother goes there, some of the shootings happened in his dorm. I know several of the students that were shot. I came home to my mother who is an absolute mess, who has been sitting here the entire day answering the phone from concerned friends and watching the news which has messed up everything. I'm sure since the news I'm hearing less than 100 miles from the school is fleshin' up then I'm sure as hell it is across the ocean as well.

The last fleshin' thing I want to hear now is how american gun laws are messed up. It's not the guns who kill the people its the deranged pyscopath behind the trigger.

When will they ever learn? What the fleshin' kinda comment was that. It doesn't matter what country you're from, there are gonna be messed up people. And you know what, out lawing guns ain't stopping nothing. Because the guys that are fleshin' up enough to go shoot 30 people are the same guys that don't care about gun laws. They'll steal them if they have to, they'll kill a cop barehanded to get his, I don't care, they will get them. The people that will obey the gun laws either have them legally and use them for what they are supposed to be used for, or they don't have them.

Get it through your heads, you can't just throw the title "americans" on it and then talk xxxxx. As I said, a little too close to home this time, I'm not putting up with it.

weird how? I only got told what happened, not really any details. I mean in Canada the opposition parties have been trying to get all kinds of weapon bans in due to a dramatic increase in firearm related crimes. Though about 90% of these crimes were done with guns smuggled in from out of the country.

I think that it is their mentality, not so much access to weapons. In Canada we have far more firearms per capita, then in the US, though FAR LESS firearms related offenses. Like I said, all about societial differences. So to sum it up, alot of them area a little effed. Though I think alot comes down to kids being raised poorly....

Exact same thing we are having issues with in Canada....Like I posted about, almost all firearms related crimes in Canada are done with illegaly imported weapons. So having tougher laws and restrictions only hurts the law abiders......Though maby i am crazy like that...

Oh, and I wish you and your family all the best in this time....

Wow, thanks for not reading or considering my post at all.....

ITS NOT THE GUN ITS WHO'S PULLING IT

If you're driving home drunk and kill someone, what, are you going to ban cars?

For those that are not aware of what happened. The deadliest shooting in US history at a school happened today at Virgina Tech university.

No offence meant tomcat, but if guns weren't readily available, it wouldn't have happened.

Also, the rampant gun culture can't help with the mental state of someone like that. You only have to look at the gun obsessed survivalist nutters you get to see that.

What happened is a tragedy of epic proportions, and my heart goes out to the relatives of all those killed. Hopefully something good (tighter gun laws, or outright banning) will come of it.

Yet theirin lies the problem with most politicians/people. They dont understand that if the US bans firearms, there will still be alot there. There is probably like a 2-1 ratio of illegally owned firearms to legal arms.

Banning them will not stop the flow of them comming in. Look at illegal drugs for instance. They are illegal, yet readily available.......

Edit-No offense ment to anyone, just saying

None taken, but I'm saying that this person would have still managed to get a gun. It wasn't a snap-and-shoot thing it was premeditated, considering the amount of ammuntion and weapons he had.

Thanks paul....

In most countries on earth, (well, europe, I'm talking the civilised earth :D ) he simply wouldn't have been able to lay his hands on the weaponry. Which is I think, the point.

I am sure you can think that.....but it is not all that hard really....I mean look at a country like Switzerland where their army reserve members keep their Assualt rifles at home.....They CAN shoot regular long rifle ammunition which you can buy easily enough..... I dont even live there and I could get my hands on weapons in probably 2-3weeks....

Ok, well I had a feeling someone would bring up the swiss. They are kind of an exception in europe on the arms laws, BUT, they don't have such a gun culture - how often do you hear of someone going postal in Switzerland?

It's awful what happened in the US today.

Here in NZ there are lots of guns, no handguns, just rifles and shotguns, I've got one, lots of my neighbours and friends do, but there is hardly any gun crime, yet one of the highest incidences of mental illness and suicide in the OECD - which would seem like a potentially dangerous mix.

It's not about banning guns, it's about stopping them getting into the hands of the wrong people, and making them illegal would just send the whole thing underground. The laws and controls here work - and they include training and periodic in depth checks on the person wanting a licence, and you can't buy a gun or ammunition without the licence.

In the UK gun crime is mostly as a result of drugs. I think there's alot to be said for relaxing the drug laws to ease other crime. It could be controlled and taxed to pay for rehabilitation treatments etc.

...I don't do anything by the way.
