My bro and family are doing the take the kids to DisneyWorld Florida thing in May to which i was invited but originally turned down...im a bit too old for Mickey

However ive checked out some flights (£290) and Jeep Hire, all pretty cheap...now i am tempted to fly over, use the hotel as a base and explore the coast with my new board...I guess i'll be looking at spending 1k-1.5k ...

Now, is the surf gonna be any good end of May/early June around Cocoa Beach area? Or do i use that money and go somewhere else more worthwhile...(this will be my first surf trip)

Elsewhere!!! Florida isn't known for its awesome surf unless there are hurricanes....then probably you don't want to be there anyway!

1.5K will get you around loads of places! Most famous surf destinations are cheap and easy (not hawaii!). Indonesia, Maldives, Fuertaventura, canaries, morroco, etc etc.

Dec is right about the waves. It is chancy if there are waves or not. The whole East Coast of the US is a hit or miss situation that time of year. Go 3,000 miles west to Caifornia

Hate to disagree, but CA in spring is notorious for small/flat surf. Best time of course, is winter for larger surf, or summer for medium size. But, you never know! Went out this a.m. and got some overhead and a half at Tourmo, great fun!

Its really hard to tell. We have had some pretty good luck on waves here lately. Its flat right now, but there are so many fronts moving in and out, its hard to say what the next day may bring. Cocoa is a really good area. If you decide to come, let me know, and I'll tell you what spots to check.
