Music to get you stoked!

Postby TicTac » Tue Mar 13, 2007 9:31 pm

What music does everyone listen to, to help get you stoked as your heading down to your local break for a surf sesh? And of course what music do you listen to afterwards as your driving home looking back at those sweet sets still rolling in!

For me it has to be something fast paced with a real heavy beat to it to get you stoked as your heading to the break and on the way home something really mellow and chilled. I find System of a Down isn't too bad for firing you up when you head to a break but not a personal fave really. On the trip home its usually Foo Fighters since im usually in adrenalines car, the lighter songs seem to do the trick!

Hey TicTac!

P.O.D, particularly 'Alive', love that song! Also Feeder, and Primal scream. With the odd bit of Zero 7 for those 'chilling' moments.

Hmm, to get me stoked... I spose a good dose of Foo fighters, a lil bit of Red Hot Chili Peppers.... and you can't beat a healthy helping of Ash, real adrenaline pumping stuff!

Afterwards, something chilled, maybe the accoustic Foos album, a bit of Jack Johnson, Moby...

Im also interested to see what songs people have in their head when they're actually surfing. It all depends on what mood I'm in, whether im chilling on the waves or fighting for survival.
Last time I was out I was wipeing out to Queens of the Stone Age.

EDIT: Good calls there Derbyshire, particularly Feeder! Echo Park on the way there, Comfort In Sound on the way back 8)

If I'm planning on loggin' (which is most of the time) it's chill music the way there and back. Jack Johnson, Bag of Toys, Slightly Stoopid, Donovan Frankenreiter, Ben Harper, etc.

Then there are the days where I listen to ska. That's good pump up. Streetlight Manifesto, Five Iron Frenzy, Catch-22, Big D and the Kids Table, Operation Ivy, etc.

If it's something adrenaline required, it's Rage Against the Machine. I've got a mix on the ipod that is for pumping up, I got pretty much the sound track to the old Dave Mirra game on playstation. F'n sweet soundtrack. It's worth buying the game, you can use it in your CD player.

I'm Into anything really but last time i went i was hooked on Kasabian's was new album Empire. But i think Jack Johnson has taken over along with (this may seem sad) The Radio 1 Live Lounge CD. Arctic Monkeys singing love machine by Girls Aloud and The Automatics singing Gold digger by Kanye West are Legendary. I recommend. :)

Oh, I love Ska, old school No Dought is awesome, jack johnson, ben harper, the beach boys, death cab for cutie, metric, city and colour, blue october, the fray, snow patrol, the kooks.

When I really want to get pumped up i go more to punk and rock. Anti-Flag, Rise Against, My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Green Day(their older stuff is alot better, IMO), Blink 182, The Offspring, Goldfinger, Bloc Party, Red Hot chilly Peppers, Jimmy Eat World, AFI, Thursday.

Then there is the dance...I just listen to alot of everything...I love european dance though, alot better then what you get out of here(north america)
