Just to say..... that is the North Sea! You know like 5 degree celsius water :shock: . Its even cold with a wetsuit on in mid-winter
Why do that to yourself.lol

I used to liv in england a few years ago in kent. and one snowy january i was watching the sea while it was snowing. Along came two old woman wearing just their bathing suits and they jumped right in :shock: :shock: :shock:

I was surfing Boscombe pier a couple of years back on New years day, it was hail stoning and about 20 oaps got in for a swim in their speedos/cozzies!! I think its an annual thing they do. I was in winter suit, boots, gloves and hat.

No matter how brave you are, with water that temp I would have thought that would be a quick way to get hypothermia and die.

I would say hypothermic in about 15 minutes....that is all dependent on how the water is moving, and how submersed he is. Though there is a dam good chance he wouldnt be out there that long.

maybe he's one of those guys who deliberately jump into freezing cold water to supposedly reduce the chances of having a heart attack if they were ever accidently submerged in icy cold water. I saw a program about all these old people jumping into freezing water thinking it has health benefits. I think they're completely mad :roll:

If it's the guy I normally see he is out there for about 20 - 30 mins and constantly running in a large circle in and out of the water.

theres a whole sub culture dedicated to people that like swimming in cold water.

Fair play to them I say, its nice to see people enjoying the sea.
