Surfing Waves

I'm trying to get more into photography. I have a site set up with a few pics on it. There are a few surfing pics, but most are of stuff I thought didn't suck. If any of you have the time, I'd appreciate any feed back on what you think.

Hi Wood I like your pictures, the wildlife ones are really nice crisp and clear. They all are high quality photos.

The site is easy to navigate, and has some nice little features, like when you click on the picture it opens up separately.

The shopping cart seems to be very simple and easy to understand with what i've been through with it.

The main thing that stands out is the Banner at the top. It would be good if it was the same size as the main body, and maybe a bit higher quality to match the standard of your photos.

EDIT: It might be better to have your real name instead of 'Wood Shots' just a thought.

Thanks. Wood is what I go by, I'm really glad you brought up the banner. I was told that was the size that worked best, but it was supposed to go all the way across the screen. Needless to say it didn't. I was wondering if it was like that on just my PC. Now I know its not. I'm gonna fix it now. Thanks!

Very good job on the moonlight ones, I always have wanted to get those kinda shots but have no idea how.

So what kind of shutter speed did you use? Anything else?

Few things id suggest...

The sunset/moonlight ones have a bit of noise in them, you should be able to ditch this with longer exposures (or a noise reducing program, you can find them on the net). Noticed it in some of the daytime shots too, if youre cropping down from a larger image, before you save it view it at full size to see if theres any noise/fringing.

Try different angles. Having everything centred (horizon line, sun etc...) can make shots pretty boring. Try either getting more of the sky in (maybe catching clouds that have an interesting sunset haze to them?) or if doing sun over water shots, more of the water to catch reflections and the like.

If youve got more than one subject in an image (maybe a tree background with a plant in the foreground), try to isolate the focusing onto one particular subject. If everything is in focus its gonna be a busy shot and there wont be any one place to attract the eyes of the viewer.

As far as the protected folder, all it contains is my header, which is still breaking my balls trying to get it centered.

Hey Wood just checked your site again on IE, Firefox, AOL and your header is centred on all of those browsers.

I assume the sun's are sunrises, or are you on the western side of Fla?

I mess around a lot with shutter speed on night shots. My favorite full moon pic, is the one where the moon has kinda a star burst look. I had the shutter open for 15 seconds on that one. Needless to say a tripod comes in real handy.
