I watched that thing Jamie Oliver did. It was really shocking when he went around and showed the kids the choices of fresh chicken and salad vs. the old stuff and they still chose fries and whatever.

i heard on the radio t'other day that 'concerned' (?) parents at a school which has banned junk food were poking chips through the fence for their kids at lunchtime. PATHETIC! Don't they realise that the kids are going to grow up to be fatter, lazier and unhealthier than their parents already are?!
Seriously though, I do think it's a shame that people feed their kids crap and then wonder why they are always overweight, bored, tired, unmotivated and have no attention span.
Hmm....this from the person who had just remembered having a can of coke and an iced bun for breakfast this morning! (but only cause the pasties in the bakers next door to work weren't hot at 8:30 this morning!)

I usually got high behind the building during lunch, and wood then pick up a bag of potato chips on the way to my next class.

Me Too, also we would go to the shopping mall and eat at the food court.

We never had a canteen or tuck shop at school when I was there, so it was packed lunches all the way.
Heard a few months ago that they filled in our swimming pool and used the building to make a canteen/tuck shop though - now hows that for keeping kids healthy - destroying a perfect pool to make way for a bloody canteen!

The school pool may have been filled in because the goverment now requires all schools to provide (hot?) food for the kids that go there - not sure when the canteens have to be in place by though.
Did they think of the loss of school pools and playing fields - what do you think?
I think they've put it in place so that kids get a least one 'decent' meal a day, perhaps to save the from the same parents that feed them chips through the school gates!
I hated school diners at the time 'smiley faces' and sausage rolls or pizza everyday with one 'healthy' meal for the teachers.

We're not governed by UK law, Jersey has its own government which (pretty much) makes up anything and everything.
Have just found the school website, and apparently it is a proper canteen with decent food. The whole bloody schools changed lol.
