Postby Beachbum » Wed Oct 25, 2006 3:39 pm

My computer seems to acting funny the screen has these weird square barcodes coming onto the screen when windows was loading up the other night and when I logged in. I was looking for driver updates for my ATI 9550 such as this catalyst center but it dosn't seem to help. Then I looking for window updates and downloaded some which weren't on high priority which I scaned on their website.

Now my computer turns on and afiter it loads Microsoft XP the screen just goes blank. If my dad finds out my computer it broking again hes going to kill me :x .

Go to the event viewer (control pannel > admin tools > Event viewer) and select the system read out witha right click and "clear all events"

Next time this happens go back to the event viewer and tell me what it says in the system section.

Just after u start ur pc, the BIOS details appear, press F8 and it will bring up options to boot in Safe Mode and some other options.

Note: this will boot up with the minimal amount of drivers needed.

If it doesnt work in safe mode, try the option of "Last Known working config". That might help.

... as a back up plan !! .. tell your pops that some guy called CheeZee had sent you a Jpeg file and it was carrying a virus , tell him that you hadnt asked for this email so technically you havnt done anything wrong ... you may still get a beating but hopefully it will be down graded from a Catergory-3 belt buckle to a Catergory- 8 flip flop accross the ass !! .

p.s ... tell him the file was something to do a with a present you were gonna buy him for his next birthday ...might downgrade the whooping another notch to a Catergory -9 Grounding with a slap up side the head as you run for your room  :D

lolol.. :D  .. i was the angelic golden haired blue eyed boy that realised at a very very young age that if you mix just the right amount of charm with just the right amount of naughty and then use apprx 50% of the truth ... there isnt much you cant get away with .. woot woot !! lmao

" How do people know that your a good person if you havnt done anything bad to measure that by " ..as quoted to the nice policeman that picked me up 45miles from home when i was 9 , trying to steal an inflatable dingy to sail to Africa to dig for diamonds lmao.. and that is a true story there for real .. aww my poor mother what a trouble ive been hahahahaha  :D

Its able to boot in safe mode but the screen is still messed up with square blocks but I was able to run my anti-virus programs if that had to do with anything. So what should I do now? I want to keep my music and stuff should I put it on a micro chip?

When I go to event viewer and click on to "clear all events" it asks me to save system or something. What does this mean?

Don't worry about saveing it....

Cleaer them then use the comp as normal and next time you get the problem your having return to the even viewer and tell me what it says in all the sections.

Nice to see even a computer-glitch related thread can provide a 'surf' solution!

Sorry, I know nothing about computers and cannot offer any sensible suggestion  Though GowerCharger's "Kick it. Hard" option appeals!
