IMO, snowboarding isn't hard. I snowboarded for 3 years before I realized I no longer liked it due to lack of new challenging things to do (yeah, yeah, I know, do tricks....I just don't like the vibe in the park). Then I went back to skis, and am loving it.
But snowboarding was fun for a while. I'm sure you'll love it. And Colorado....sweet...where in Colorado?
Just remember, you're turning with your back foot, not your front. And don't plow down slopes that are above your skill level. That will piss everybody off. I generally spray the people doing that, or give them a "love tap" in the head with my pole, but only if they are wearing a helmet.
Kinda like a guy on a giant sponge coming out to Diamond head on a nice busy day and drop in on everyone, but never even gets to his feet, and just falls in front of you. I'm sure you understand.
But I'm sure you'll love it. Dress in layers. Everything on the outside water and windproof. And drink lots of water. It may be cold, but you're sweating a ton, plus you have to moisten the dry air in your throat, sinuses, and lungs. So if you've got a Camelbak, bring it. If you don't get a backpack and a bunch of water bottles.
Where and when are you going?

Out of surfing, skateboarding and snowboarding, snowboarding I found the easiest (but it was the one I tried last)
Get someone to show you the basics and you are away. It took a few goes on the nursery slopes to get the hang of turning and how to stop and I was away. After a weeks trip you should be flying.
The hardest thing was getting on and off the chairlift.

yeah, the boredom thing is more specific to around here, where "fresh pow" is a term only few have heard tales about.
30 runs, about 15 of which are blacks and up, nice little playground for us, but it ain't no Colorado Springs!
Done powder once...best feeling in the world! well, surfing's right up there....but whatever.
Thinking about taking a summer trip to Mount St. Helen, apparently the snow is still good then.

in 3 days you should be ripping down blues picking up speed. Your butt will hurt ALOT after the 2 first days. Its pretty much all confidance, expect to fall alot. I dont know how surfing will help because i find it very different. In a week you'll be fine. The faster you go the eaier it will be. go do me a backflip!

I have no idea, but I would say go to a desired resorts site, and look through there. Also, don't forget about looking in Craigslist for the city you're going to. Lots of locals will get them cheap somehow, and sell them cheap, so you might be able to avoid some costs there.
