Hey all, I want your help!

I have loads of little quotes plastered around my classroom at school but it's time for a change. Do you know any interesting/ motivational/ inspiring/ wise or even funny quotes or sayings to make my kids think?

I've got lyrics from songs, stuff from movies, ancient proverbs and famous philosophical things but the kids have been looking at them for 2 years now and I want some new material.

Being very busy working hard  and shaping the minds of the next generation, ( :D ) I thought you could do this for me, rather than having to spend hours searching the net  . Anything about surfing would also be cool.

Thanks in advance!
xxx :?:

I saw one of those inspirational posters with a guy surfing and under the picture it just said 'determination' Anyone who can remember thier first few sessions should be able to relate.

Funny thing was I saw it in a buddy's house that I took surfing once, and he couldn't make it out of the kiddie pool (the shorepound) so he gave up.

And (I know you aren't suppose to start a sentence with the word 'and') BUT, there is always the words of wisdom my Dad passed on to me:

'Son, if you turn them upside down, they are all sisters'

I always found that to be profound, I think he meant kind of like we are all related in Christ or something like that.

Never argue with an idiot - they'll only drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

It's better to remain silent and be thought stupid than to open your mouth and confirm it.

Basicly anything by Henry David Thoreau... my personal favourite is:
'Do not worry if you have built your castles in the air. They are where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.'

The guys worth googling, he's a source of incredible quotes.

And by Mark Twain: ''Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than those you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

Idratherbe... I'm not quite sure I could put that last one of yours up (even though it's very good advice... and based on experience!) Same goes for eltimmo I'm afraid

I'm having fun reading them all... keep the ideas flowing....

"There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie, and Dim, Dim being really dim, and we sat in the Korova Milkbar making up rassoodocks what to do with the evening, a flip dark chill winter xxxxx though dry. The Korova Milkbar was a milk-plus mesto, and you may, O my brothers, have forgotten what these mestos were like, things changing so skorry these days, and everybody very quick to forget, newspapers not being read much neither.

There was no real need...of crasting any more pretty polly to tolchock some old veck in an alley and viddy him swim in his blood while we counted the takings and divided by four, nor to do the ultra-violent on some shivering starry grey-haired ptitsa in a shop and go smecking off with the till’s guts." -a clockwork orange, burgess

I think it was Che Guevara who once said "It's better to die standing than to live on your knees"
