How digusting or physically bad??

In terms of physically, hmm its raw pigs blood so you hve the chance of all the usual raw meat nasies. Oh no wait it must be cooked already. You wanna be careful with bigs blood its how tape worms )or is it liver flukes?) are transmitted.

In terms of digustingingingingnessingness its RIGHT up there. You minger!!

If youre eating it for the sake of eating it - gross

If youre eating it cos youve got pregnancy cravings, your baby will come out looking like Porky, with a curly tail, and if its a boy it'll have a curly willy

You can get black pudding in the South....i thought it was just a Northern thing...

Think you'll survive, but cooked or uncooked, don't think it's very good for you, specially smeared in "tripe"

black pudding is fantastic stuff.
i never heard of anyone eating it raw until a few weeks ago when this guy from yorkshire started work with us and he eats his raw. Must be a northern thing. doesnt seem to have had much effect on him, he does have a silly accent but im not sure thats related to the balck puddings.
I like mine just cooked enough that it crumbles when you touch it with the fork, mmmm.

ok...i didnt mean to eat it raw....its kind of a long story.....

I was making myself a fry up for breakfast, black pudding in the fridge, i was thinking nice one il get that on the go... Everything was going smoothly, timming was spot on but at the crucial point (ie turning the grill on) i look out the window and see one of my puppies galavanting up the hill...so im running down the road after it in my pajamas....leaving my precious breakfast.

Anyways got my dog back about half an hour later came back everything has gone cold (including the black pudding that was never actually cooked)...i was going to throw the whole thing away but my dad comes in as its just about to go in the bin and is all "thats good food... dont waste that...eat that up etc etc"

So i ate most of it pretty sharpish because i was already late for an exam...thinking this tastes pretty bad, that was this morning and this afternoon when the sparky came round to fix the grill, it struck me that the elusive black pudding was alas not cooked....resulting in this evenings events which consisted of hellish stomach cramps and a trip to A+E to get my stomach pumped!

Just got back now and its almost 1 in the morning

Moral of the story never listen to your dad!

Ooooo I love black pudding!

Sounds like your cramps etc could be a psychosomatic reaction.

Your mind is a very powerful tool!!!!

they most definitely werent psychosomatic.!

it was probably more to do with the fact that it was about 2 months out of date as well...hmmm tastey

Hey jennie, that sounds awful  (but I still don't understand why anyone would want to eat black pudding in the first place - even if it's cooked!)

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Its nice to get to work and have a laugh first thing in the morning

(Sorry, jennie, Im sympathetic really)

Ive got good news for you though, sort of.....
The stomach cramps probably werent psychosomatic, and they were probably the worst thing you'll get from eating black pudding raw.
The human stomach really doesnt put up with blood very well - something to do with the haem (as in haemoglobin) protein. So if you drink raw blood, people often throw up (as many would-be vampire goth type people have found out).

Although personally the thought of black pudding makes me throw up anyway

That would do the trick

I just found this:

"The puddings we buy are already cooked, we just need to reheat them. The chief difficulty is that the pudding can burst out of the skin. The simple answer is to take off the casing but the filling may then crumble. I prefer to slice it thick (at least 2cm), then cook as gently as possible, in frying pan, grill or hot oven."

Anyway, hope youre OK now!

Anyone tried white pudding??? Yum Yum :D

White pudding is soooo much nicer than black pudding(which is also nice).
When i lived in Holland I lived in above an Irish bar and every weekend I would buy myself an english paper then have a full Irish brekfast followed by a pint or 3 of murphys red :D :D :D
Happy days.

Does that mean you only eat it raw??? Or just the thought of any black pudding makes you want to heave??

You always confuse me :D

You need a "stone fox secret post decoder ring" ! :D

But seriously, I didn't think it was that bad a post... Is English your first language? And if it is, do you speak a corrupted version of it, like American?

What I meant was the thought of black pudding in general, cooked or uncooked makes me want to heave!

Fried pigs blood.... mmmmm..... not.

Ahhhh.
You see, you confused me by placing the word 'cooked' in front of 'black pudding', leading me to surmise that it was only the cooked variety of aformentioned 'black pudding' that you have an aversion to.

This led me to believe that , because you haven't specifically mentioned the adjective 'raw' or 'uncooked' in your post I took it for granted you could possibly prefer to take your black pudding raw.

I now realise this is not the case, prompting you to make your witty repartie.

I think, therefore, my confusion is totally justified and it is you, sir, who speaks a corrupt version of the English language 8)

There is nothing wrong with fried pigs blood, but I do have to agree with WishkidWales that white pudding is infinitely preferable.

I thank you!

Black pudding/white pudding, all the same, all dog food!
The only experience I had with a white pudding was last year when myself and a mate were showing his cousin around our home town on a tuesday night...
We started off with a few swift halves down the local at the end of the road, and got the bit between our teeth, so we decided at 11:00 that we needed to be in the lap dancing club really :D . This we did and a few dances and bottles of their cheapest champers later we had to call it a night as they shut at 02:00! I was so on form, all the girls loved me, they wouldn't leave me alone (maybe the fact I was pissed and they wanted my money might have had a teeny bit to do with it  ) It was decided the taxi must stop at Tescos for sustinance and so I vaguely remember stumbling up and down the isles of a very bright place whilst the lads sorted out some hearty all day breaky ingredients.
We got back to my mates and apparently I ate all my breaky up then decided to have a cuban cigar with the boys despite the fact I don't smoke!
The vomitting began shortly afterwards. Don't really remember much about it at the time but the next morning I saw I had eaten a fair bit of white pudding and then put it on my mates carpet! That day really sucked. I finally recovered at about 4-ish and knew that I shouldn't have had the white pudding  !
