Croyde

Anyone know if the camp site, Surfers Paradise is open yet? And if so, how busy is it at the weekends?

Speaking of Croyde, does anyone know any good (i.e free) places to pitch a tent? I'm a little pissed at having to pay nearly enough money for a bed and breakfast for 6sq feet of mud... !

Nope.
Surfers paradise is restricted by planning regulations, and has very restriced opening times. So its only open in the peak summer season

So this time of year your stuck with Ruda (snobby, families, often full), Croyde Bay (militant, too many rules) or The Orchard (somones back garden)

The Orchard is ace, I remeber back in my grom years slumming it there out of season. No shower, just a bog. We used to go to ruda water park to wash lol.

SF - Why don't you come stay at North morte>? Way cheaper, 10min walk to combesg, grunta, woola main beach....

I was more hoping for a sneaky field so I wouldn't have to pay. No use if you've got girls with you (most girls seem to need toilet facilities :) ) but if I'm down on my own for a weekend or I've got a couple of mates with me...

How much do any of the ones you've mentioned charge? A short drive to the beach doesn't really bother me, though I'd rather be by the water.

I think I'll give that a try...! Woolacombe beach eh? How does the surf there compare to Croyde / Saunton?

*edit*

Maybe not - http://www.northmortefarm.co.uk/tariff.htm

Much gayness and bad.

What are you in?

Its the cheapest in the area!

Woolamainbeach is a cross between saunton and croyde. Depending on where you go you've got off the rocks, river mouth and shiftig peeks. Combesgate is similar to croyde, my fav, pokey low tide lefts and rights. and grunta reef is a reef!

Most family orrentated sites are like this. This is becuase big groups tend to be rowdy etc... Cover's their backs after the few spoil it for the many. And no, booking in seperatly is the worst thing you can do, you have lied and you'll get chucked off 1st thing the next morning. There's nothitng worse than people taking the piss.

IT sounds like i'm majorly pimping the place cause I work there but it really IS the best in the area. Everywhere else is eather chain owned or overpriced or miles away. North Morte is friendly family run and the money goes back into the local community not to some franchise owner in the city.

If you want the cheapest StoneFox then go to Little Roadway. Its a dump though.

If I'm on my own, I'll try it. The thing that put me off was not being able to bring more than two friends if they're male. Driving all the way from London it's more economical with a car full. Also if it's such a family establishment they probably won't take to kindly skunk smoking.

Btw, any good pubs near there?

Take it as a yes, and get scared/jealous of the fact that String Emil walks round with a boner permanently (think there was only one photo that could be classed as a semi lol).

The Chichister Arms is the place in Mortehoe, the lads there are sound and its good food. Next up is the Ship Aground which is very similar. The others are lame!

Yeah its a bit awarkeard withthe smokign thing... The fields are huge so you can camp out of the way for sure but when its busy it gets a bit dodgy. But your right on top of the cliffs or Rockem Beach which well nice :)
Anyway you could always meet up with me and Ejay for a bif or two where ever you decide to stay.
