What is the longest you have gone without sleep for?

Postby libby » Thu Apr 13, 2006 1:34 am

I'm currently on 30.5 hours and counting and still full of beans :D

Had an assignment to write, its not due in till next wednesday but i'm away at Brents all next week so i had to hand it in today. It took literally all night, came into uni at about 7.30 this morning, only for a friend to offer to hand it in for me if i emailed it to her next week. Didnt know whether to laugh or cry (so i ate some chocolate; always a good compromise)

Anyways, i reckons some of you guys and gals might have had some fairly epic clubbingfests (yes i'm talking to you Broosta), thesisfests, drugfests/ surfests/workfests etc

So whats the longest you have managed?

Go to bed woman - I've got lots of housework for you to do in the next few days - and the lawn needs mowing...

3 days... I think, can't remember clearly... Sleep depravation messes up your head just as much as any tablets you can find to eat, erm especially when you already ate the tablets...

Remember kids its not big and its not clever.
I haven't done that sort of thing for 10yrs now!
At the moment I go without sleep due to bloody night shifts!

YUM YUM......what lovely looking sweeties!

A couple of years ago was doing a night shift cabbing in London; after my shift I had to fly to Dublin, pick up a rental car to go to my Grandma's funeral an hour away, stayed for one drink at the wake (how rude), drove back to Dublin, had an argument with check in because they wanted to charge me 100 euros for my little 6'2, (they didnt charge me in the end), flew to Madrid to catch a connecting flight to Barcelona to meet my girlfriend. (I was living there at the time and driving a cab in London!)

My board wasnt there in Barcelona, so I had to fill in loads of forms. It was 2am and we were catching a 7am flight to Tenerife.

After realising my board was 'lost' and being told they would send it to the hotel in Tenerife, I went to my girlfriend's house for what I thought would be a couple of hours sleep. She hadnt packed her board and wanted advice on what bikinis to bring (for a week's holiday??). That was the last thing I needed after nearly 40 hours of no sleep (I cant sleep on planes)

Anyway....got to Tenerife and slept for 3 days and the board arrived the day before we left!! And then I split up with my girlfriend after 8 years together!!

January 2002 - 76 hours - spent the whole time playing about on the laptop (know it was this long cos I had dial up at the time and the counter told me how long i'd been online). Then slept for 2 days solid, woke up not knowing what day it was.

The only time I bothered getting up off the sofa was to go to the loo or warm up a can of soup lol

3 days with no sleep at all is my record as well, i was at a festival and wanted to get my moneys worth, with the help of a few substances along the way it was easily done!

bad idea tho because i was helping my old school with there gold duke of edinburgh expeditions the day after and my old teahers were not impressed when they had to stop the minibus for me to be sick!

Jennie, the odds of you being who I think you are are pretty remote, but did you used to have a best friend called Kirsty....? You're from Virginia Water?

I'm not looking for her, it was just that something you said really reminded me of an ex girlfriends best friend, and the name and location fitted.

Whereabouts in London are you anyway? And doesn't it suck living so far from decent surf?!!?!?!!? :(

West London. Staines way, but I'm planning on moving a little further into town shortly - Kingston, Twickenham way.

By south, do you mean out by Gatwick?

I hear the surf on the south coast sucks! It's only a 2.5 hr drive from here to Croyde / Saunton...
