Recently bought an inflatable SUP

I know this is not for surfing but just cruising along. Have anyone tried it? I just don't think it's for me. I'm wondering if this is just boring compared to surfing or maybe a hard SUP would be better? This thing is just heavy and slow.

I doubt getting a hard SUP will make it more exciting if you are just cruising. I am sure there will be differences between brands of inflatable SUPs but the idea of inflatable is not for speed, it is for convenience. A regular SUP can be heavy as well. The ones made for beginners are big boats compared to a longboard. If moving quicker is important then inflatable is not the option. I am certain that hard boards made for speed will do much better than any brand of inflatable. Possibly you might think of an electric foil board but they are bulky. Just riding it is exciting or so I hear.

Yeah I think I'm just going to return it as it's really not for me. Plus it's also quite an inconvenience as it takes like 40 mins to set it up, inflate and pack it up. Whereas a hard surfboard is like put on the leash and hit the breaks. I think electric foil board would be fun but the last 2 person I saw ran out of battery and was stuck paddling few hundred yards from shore.

I had a scupper ocean kayak that was a lot of fun to paddle and I fished off it. Because on a kayak you are seated there is less effect from the wind compared to SUP (but still need to pay attention). I think whatever battery powered device you might want to use you might look for one that has a timer to tell you to turn around and go back to where you came from or you can do that yourself just need to pay attention to the flow of water and the wind etc because that will affect the energy needed to travel.back.
