hello... i am new and i am a total wannabe, but don't hate me! lol! anyway, just out of curiosity, who's a guy and who's a girl here? call me weird but i just happen to have this weird obsession of knowing if i am talking to a guy or girl... lol! :D also, how many other wannabes are out there?

i'm only a wannabe cus i don't have a lot of free time on my hands, live not that close to a good beach and can't afford any of the essentials, nor do i know if any of my friends have anything i could borrow.... but i am determined to try it someday!!! i know, such a sad story.... anyway ttyl!

luv,
breni

hey island_gurl,
i think my author name kinda gives me away...yep i'm a girl.
don't stress about not having gears etc yet, you have the motivation which is the main thing! as a poor student, i spent all my course related costs money from the government on my new board - much better then wasting it on texts books i can get out of the library anyhow! And doing post grad and having loads of commitments i don't have a lot of time for surfing either - but when you are totally hooked on something, you tend to make time for it anyway. so if you are really keen, you should check out where the nearest surf shop or surf school is and get hooked up! as for surf gears, all you really need is a wettie and board and if you live in an area with a lot of surfers you should be able to get ok stuff second hand or be able to rent it from a surf school.
