I imagine you will find it relatively easy to master :) In no time it will be Black Diamond slopes for you or so I have heard from other surfers who snowboarded. Have fun.

Enjoy it! Snow is great this year and St.Anton has great offpiste routes. Much easier on a snowboard than skis. Pity to have missed you by a few days.

Jaffa, just remember that in skiing the turtle roll isn’t always the right manoeuvre in the face of a mogul. But it would look amusing

Turtle rolls crunchy crust but need a fair supply of tomato sauce

I learned in my 30s so my bones aren't as springy.
I would recommend some padding - soft kneepads, shorts with silicone impact inserts and shirt with same would not hinder you much and allow you to fall safely.

Down off the kiddy slopes, not too damaged but certainly has convinced me not to resurrect any skateboarding dreams. Did a couple of back splats with whiplash but am thankful for my helmet and martial arts training took the falls on the breadth of my shoulders. Stars none the less, ice meeting wrong edge you get done quickly.
And on the Kinder slopes

That photo looks a lot like the sapphire coast hinterland...

Good to see you are feeling young and hanging out on the kinder slopes. When your day is spent at the pensioner slope, then we will worry

Many kids move from kinder slope to fun park. Must be a natural progression. Are you heading there too ...?

Surfing and Snowboarding have a lot of opposites.
You turn to speed up in Surfing but you turn to slow down for Snowboarding
Surfing you put pressure on the back and swing the nose. Snowboarding you pressure the front and slide the rear.

Only a short trip 4 days my son and his family had 3 days on the full black pistes and my wife and did a lot of mountain breathing and I only had one day on the kinder Piste which was mostly Icy so a lot of Board Control lessons and falling and getting up lessons' foot pressure was ok until I was catching front rail. Only one severe bone rattling fall.
Pretty pleased with first effort and in all kindness because the upper slopes were deep in powder I didn't ask for more lesson than what I had.
Expensive compared to surfing for gear and tickets, got 800 meters higher than anything in Australia.

Awesome! I find surfing and snowboarding to be completely different. I feel that snowboarding is easier, maybe because you're strapped in and the mountain is static so you can feel the responsiveness of the board easier? I don't know. Of course, I have been snowboarding longer than I've been surfing so I'm sure that has something to do with it. Still, I'm not a great snowboarder and prefer easy fun rides like this one a couple of weeks ago over the steep fast stuff....
