Find any picture on the internet. Save it to your hd. If it is bigger than 100 x 100 pixels and\or bigger than 6k, you must make it smaller by using photoshop or paint(or similar).

Then go to your profile, push "browse" and find your new cool avatar and submit it.

If you need to resize an image but don't have photoshop etc then take a look at the link in this avatar topic

Being devoid of a scanner, I resorted to taking a photo with my digital camera of one of my favourite pics of me, then cutting it and resizing it to make the avatar I have.

Google Image search is always worth a go too!!
