Help stop children from drowning

Lately I have been teaching my step daughter how to swim and I can't help but think about how flawed water wings are as a swimming aid, they are good at keeping kids arms a float but I find that unless you are constantly holding onto your child their head will still go under water (which I think is just dangerous and I can't help but wonder how many children have drowned because parents have put too much trust in their child's water wings).

Anyway I just found this on the internet, it's called a 'RippSaver' and it looks like it would solve a lot of the flaws that water wings have.

What do you guys think?

There is no substitute for teaching children how to swim and keeping an eye on them at all times.

Interesting product but it doesn't help to teach your kids to swim. I guess if you are a parent who relies on water wings then this would be a better solution but a better one would be to teach your kids drownproofing and how to swim

I can see a big design flaw or caution. If a child jumps into a pool ( of course kids don't do that, do they ? ) , the rushing water will force the tube ring up and over their arms. This will lock they hands over their heads, making them unable to paddle. I had the same thing happen to me with a wetsuit top during a wipeout at Makaha. Almost drowned.

Also remember a High school friend jump into the pool with a blow up ring. It locked his arms over his head and the ring covered his mouth and nose.

my brother that was born after me died at an age of 8 in the water and it wasnt the beach just some river that was being full of trash and barbed wires under water. that river doesnt exist anymore but it was know to drown kids. after so many dead kids they decided to teach all children from the age of 4 to swim in the benelux they swim diploma's which basically is

diploma A fully capable to swim
diploma B fully capable to swim and dive and swim under water trough a tunnel and clothes on
diploma C fully caple of all the above plus learning how to be calm in a dangerous circumstances like when waves drag you or how to loose yourself in a condition where you are stuck
Diploma Z1. here you start to save people
Diploma Z2 this one is punishing and you start to swim with fins and such

and this is for the kids ofcourse the benelux is all water.

i have a disturbance with many parents choosing their idiot smartphones ober watching their children. some punk stole a kid (pedophile) got caught fortunately by a strong moroccan beating the hell out of him. ending up in jail for beating up a pedophile.

so anyways on topic
the importance of learning how to swim is important. but the new age parents. and i do not mean to be harsh a loss is hard. but when u french kiss on a beach or do the smartphone or go tennis. then honestly if your child drowns. may god protect us from this loss. then u have to acknowledge that there is a certain blame on the parents.

1. learning how to swim.
2. being a good guard and parent for your kids.

Let's be honest here, no one believes this story, this thing is useless, most kids when they're drowning will flap their arms around and panic not stop 30 seconds and try to inflate it

the drowning is a combination of not knowing what to do or not doing what you suppose to do because of panic. i do believe the swimband helps to a certain extent so i would buy it. but i also believe it could be the enemy because when u role with those things u start bumping.
the foundation is really they need to learn to swim and need to be prepared for the unknown and less panic and more control and consciousness about what is going on in the water.

tuff topic.

may god protect our children. i understand the OP
