Hey!! The season is so good and I feel like surfing. Unfortunately, I'm forbidden from surfing and that piss me off. I met with an accident few months back and I broke my nose. I had undergone rhinoplasty surgery from McLean clinic in Mississauga. My surgeon has asked me to take rest for few weeks. It's been nearly 10 weeks after the surgery and swelling and bruising have almost gone. I thought it would be fine to surf but my mom is not allowing me. She told me to consult with my surgeon and do what I like. But I have read somewhere rigorous exercises are not recommended immediately after the surgery. I really don't want to miss this season. Anyone here in a similar situation or do anyone have any idea about this? When can I be back to surfing?

Yes, ask us instead of your surgeon. Good idea. Maybe one of us will tell you what you want to hear.
Listen to your Mom and ask your doctor.

A friend of mine in high school wouldn't stop surfing and skating after he broke his wrist. The result? His bone grew back deformed. So they had to perform surgery on his wrist, rebreak the bone, and he was back where he started. I wouldn't play around with the healing process, particularly with cosmetic surgery! Don't take your nose for granted. Be patient. Listen to your doctor. Avoid all boxing rings.

Call your doc and tell him/her you want to go surfing specifically. Inform the doc that you could get smacked on the face from a board, heavy waves, or the bottom of the sea floor as well as non-stertil sea water flushing through your sinus cavity. Not all drs are familiar w/ the condition you are about to place yourself in. He/she would be able to give you a better idea of when you can paddle out again.
Our noses are right up in front of the brain. Pretty sure you don't want serious medical complication happening before your eyes (or below them in this case!)

Listen to Saltydog and your doctor, there are risks of meningitis should you get any sinus infection from coastal effluent waters. Ther is an increase risk of unset bone being pushed into your brain should you have an unsafe impact. Your parents have spent good money having your nose straightened and possibly avoiding later sinus and upper respiratory tract breathing problems. A mistake could undo that.
Here is the worst news, go back before you are ready could cause any or more problems and delay your surfing further. Until you get the OK work on your out of water fitness program .

I really don't want to miss this season.
It is just a season.
I did something similar. After a severe skiing accident with my shoulder (Tossy V) I started golfing too early because I did not want to miss the season. One of the biggest mistakes of my live and now I have to live with should instability forever.
Listen to your doctor

Now this is a survey I can support!
P.S. billie says, "Go surfing, elsapeter! What can possibly happen?"
