longboard skaters - what trucks work best?

I'm abit out of touch with skating gear guys - havn't really bought anything for years, I'm about to start putting together a 39" Gravity deck, 70mm Blue Kryptos etc - sort of a carving board come carpark thrasher, I've heard there is a brand of truck that works particularly well with longer boards over about 36"...is it Randel? These trucks (if I can remember) have a different pivot system that makes em turn more like a surfboard. Is this correct?

If you were building a dream mini-longboard what trucks would you use?

Depending on the width of your board, go with Randal 150mm or 180mm trucks.

I have a couple of long board skate decks and have Randal 180's on both. Just amazing, great for carving, super smooth but also really steady at speed.

I have Kyrptonics wheels on one board but my favourite are the Abec 11 70's Flashbacks. They look the biz too.

yeah randalls are awesome, check out the website of a shop called j's boardsports (google it) they had some really cool trucks and lots of good advice to give.

Thanks Guys, I see they're now making now a "downhill" 160mm. I'll give them a go as the pivot angle appears lower than standard(thus more carvy turns). I know about the Abecs Jonny, but I grew up on Red & Green Krypto's...so I'm kinda brand stuck on this issue. The deck is a 8.5" & 39" so the 160's will be cool.
Excellent. Thanks again chaps...
