In need of a pull..

Postby Mk2James » Fri May 29, 2015 9:33 pm

Me and a couple of my friends have invested in a skimboard for flat days. Its pretty fun but as some might know you dont go very far on it even running at full speed which resulted in me grabbing some rope from my car and one holding onto it while the other ran and pulled the other along.. Seriously fun and feels awesome, kind of like wake boarding i guess but it gets tiring. SO we have been trying to think of way to get a pull on it without having to run along and pull someone with a rope! The kind of obvious simple answer would be a winch i know but for winches with adjustable speed aren't very cheap.. At all!

Does anyone have any other ideas that we could try? Or know of a cheapish winch to try out?

When I was younger we would go to this one beach where the sand was firm and we would drive a car along the beach and tow with a ski tow rope. It was in a sheltered bay area with minimal wave action so the sand packed down firmly. Make sure it doesn't violate laws/regulations and if you do it, I recommend you set a maximum speed of less than 25 miles an hour because if the driver gets carried away the rider may need to be carried away (wiping out at 50 mph in shallow water is very likely going to hurt)
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

I just heard that there are places (not in Hawaii) where the sand is firm enough to drive on but the tide changes so much that people often get stuck and battered by the incoming tide. They get stuck here to but tide change is much less. However in the group I went with we never got stuck. We did have a few injuries even one guy who broke some bones wiping out at 50mph. The fastest I wiped out was 45 mph but I was headed out into deeper water and hit a wave which launched me up and into deeper water and I was going so fast I just kind of rag dolled along the surface
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.
