This fish I caught by paddling my line out with my kayak. I was so happy to catch something because I had to go out through shorebreak that had up to 5 foot faces. It took me multiple attempts to get all the lines out (my two friends had lines). I took a couple pounds of bait (eel) on a big hook out for my bait. It wasn't much of a fight because there was 75 to 100 yards of line out so the fish had to pull all that line around. Probably took me less than 10 minutes to land it (it weighed 48 pounds). We often caught sharks there but I guessed this was different because it swam under my friends line when sharks almost always go above the line.

Sure. I don't fish much anymore....gave it up for surfing..... but you know what they say about fishing? Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day teach a man to fish and he will be showing you pictures of his catch for months on end

Look at those little tiddlers. Hardly worth pulling them out. At that size you probably have to put them straight back don't you?

Hahaha not unless I have one of those bigger ones. I used to catch enough for dinner. When I caught my first bigger fish (40 pound fish in the first picture), I told my wife I caught a fish and she was like "OK, we'll have it for dinner" and I said "maybe a piece of it" She was all confused.

One more. This one has a funny story. I was fishing at night and entered in a Fishing tournament that went for 48 hours. I had caught a small conger eel and decided to put a fresh bait down (the eel) before I went to sleep (it was around 3 am). The place I was fishing was a break water and there were waves that splashed over so I put on a raincoat (shirt and pants) and went out on the breakwater and recast my pole. Because it was splashing over so much it made the bell on my pole ring all the time but I went to sleep anyway and woke up at 6:30 am and went to check on it. I found another fisherman walking with my pole in his hands. I asked him what happened and he told me my line was going around his pole which were further down the breakwater and he was just moving it out of the way. I looked and my line which I had cast to the outside of the breakwater was now going to the inside. Obviously during my sleep I had a bite. I pulled on the pole and the line was solidly stuck so I walked along the break water to the parking lot next to it and pulled and it was still stuck so I put it back in it's holder and waited for the sun to come up. When the sun came up I put on a mask and swam out following my line. The water was about 20 feet deep in the area it was in. I had skin dived that area before and new exactly what was down there but the water was incredibly murky and I couldn't see my hand in front of my face if I stuck my arm out all the way. No idea what was on the line I followed it till it went straight down then kind of used the line to pull me down to the bottom going really slowly because I didn't know what if anything was on the end of my line. At about 10 feet deep the water suddenly cleared and I could see this fish laying on it's side by a big coral head. I tried to unwrap the line and it cut and the fish started to swim slowly away so I grabbed it by the throat latch, (the area under the gills) which is a secure wave to handle these big fish and I swam up to the surface with it.
