Hi Lilsurffinmaniac707,

Don't feel alone, I am also from the states. Great site once you get the Australian and English (old school) slang out of the way. 8)

Although I am English I would like you to feel free to use your own slang terms - I they are surfing related they can go on https://surfing-waves.com/surf_talk.htm for all to see and learn from. It is supposed to be a worldwide surfers forum so I welcome everyones slang!

Don't get me wrong Surf Patrol, I love the different terms from around the world, that's what makes this place such a great place to share ideas and the love of surf, sorry if you took it the wrong way.

Lilsurfinmaniac, I was born and raised in New York City and later on Long Island. I HAD to move to Dallas/Ft. Worth for my job. Funny the one state I haven't been to is Cali. Funny I've seen the East coast but never the West coast, but that will change soon. I have a few friends in Cali whom I will visit soon. It kinda stinks to be 6 hours drive away from any surf and even then the Gulf is O.K. for surf.

Enjoy the site.

Vito

Not at all, it's funny but I don't really think about using slang and expecting everyone to understand it. I guess the nice thing about the forum is that if there is slang you don't understand you can always ask - we'll all be multilingual slang surfers in no time at all :D

Florida, cool, I spent many nights in Ft. Walton/ Destin beach and also spent a year in Vero Beach for flight school. Good surf there when hurricanes are out in the ocean. I use to boogey board out there during my "study" breaks.

Vitopilot, i used to live in Niceville which is basically next to Ft Walton/Destin Beach!!! My dad worked at Eglin air force base!!!

DId you ever eat at AJ's? That place rocked, i wonder if its still there! Ahh living in America was so much better than England :(

Duncs.....

You the man, I agree with you. (I am a little biased) 8)
I fly into Eglin as an overnight on one of my trips. It's cool because we get 20 hours in a hotel on the beach all expenses paid 8) (got to love airlines). The surf is never that great unless there are storms in the area.

Funny how small the world is when people half way across the world probably have run into each other.

almost forgot...

I'll check and see if AJ's is still around. I haven't been to Ft. Walton lately but next time I go I'll let you know.
