I recently saw a couple of smoothie recipes on Youtube with the acai berry. I live in Germany and when I wanted to check it out, I couldn't buy them anywhere. They seem to be unknown here.
Does anyone use them for smoothies and how does it taste? I assumed they would taste like berries in general but I heard they're supposed to taste kinda gross no matter how you combine the ingredients. Any thoughts?

WE have some ( quite a lot actually ) of Acai Berry iceblocks with electrolyte salts in Indonesia from an American importer, tasted similar to a cross between Himbeer und schwartz Trauben I didn't find them gross although the mixture had a lot of sugar to go with the antioxidant qualities of the berries.
There are other higher sources of the antioxidants and it was probably the electrolytes thatand sugar hit that was the the most potent in the feel good stakes. + an iceblock in the tropics ( magic). More than taht I don't know!

They are the rave here in San Diego, all the local coffee shops offer Acai bowls. I haven't tried them yet, but my bud says it's better than caffeine LOL

Many people say it tastes like a cross between a blackberry or raspberry and a piece of dark chocolate. To me, they taste like blackberries. I would not know I was eating one unless someone told me. I'd think is was a blackberry.

I'm surprised that they have that kind of effect. I just assumed they were healthy but didn't think they would have an immediate effect like caffeine. I found an online shop in Germany that sells frozen pulp so I'll check it out.

I've never had an acai berry smoothie but I regularly drink acai berry tea, with no sugar or any other additions. I do it for anti-oxidant reasons and it seems to be working great as it makes you feel better after 1-2 days. It doesnt taste of a sweet berry, no

The taste isnt toooooo bad but it could be better. I would describe it as both sour and bitter.
