A Protest surfing event with prize money up to $550000!
It started of this morning with more than 100 excited surfers on april 19th in rough conditions 3-4-5ft windswell in Les Dunes (the back-up spot). The surfers had diffculties finding the right pace as the waves were breaking everywhere, it was hard to find a good line-up and a lot of faceplants later a lot of surfers managed to make the best of it. But it was still hard and the scores weren't that high as well.
Heat 2 was very intresting, Tim Boal 2011 Champion had to competete against Yannick de Jager (NLD) Tim Boal ended third and Yannick 2nd. With some surfers still surfing Heat 2 the event "managers" decided to proceed the event with these conditions today!

As you can see Pablo Gutierrez from Spain got the highest score, managing to find his flow in these difficult conditions leaving his fellow surfers far behind him!
The protest riders got some really good results today like Tim Boal, Yannick de Jager etc.
The official next call is set to 9am tomorrow Friday, April 20 at the secondary venue of Les Dunes for an early start of the third Round of competition.
