Long'skate'boarding

Postby derbyshire surfer » Sun Apr 17, 2011 7:09 pm

Hi all, I've just taken up longboarding and bought a Lush Globe 41". Had more injuries in around 6 months than in 10 years surfing but go crazy being landlocked :(

Anyone else skate longboards? Any ideas for a decent pair of slide gloves, was looking at Lush V3?

Cheers

longboardings great, I know what you're saying about the injuries though- water tends to be more forgiving than concrete (at least theres no reefs on the roads!), but it fills in the space between surfs!
not sure about slide gloves, me and my mates either go without (wince) or use gardening gloves, maybe you can use them until you find a pair of decent ones? they get sliced up pretty good

they actually go alright, but it'd be cool to get some real ones too- the thing about gardening gloves is they dont really go with the image if you know what I mean haha!
I'm down here in Australia. we just bomb all the local hills- it's pretty hilly where I am, so you just need to jump out the door and go down the streets nearby and its perfect! its like its made for longboarding. not many people do it here though so you get some weird looks.. the amount of people: "is that a surfboard with wheels?" astounding.
hows it for you?

I live in Derbyshire, UK 'The Peak District' so ideal really 8) i would rather be surfing but longboarding is a buzz! Hurts bones more at my age but love the downhill rush!

Got some nice grazes and cuts from an 8 hour sesh on Saturday! Not too bust roads but hard to see what's coming, What do you ride?

I ride a santa cruz board. Fish shaped. Has urethane wheels and longboard bearings. Rips so hard. Isn't actually long so i can shred empty pools and basically surf the quarter pipes at the skatepark.

Its Rad.

Tell me truly, what benefit does a fish shape have for a skateboard :?:
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷
