In a bid to fight Boredom - Music Related

In a bid to fight boredom during those flat days i have descided to something constructive with my spare time and build a vid blog dedicated to guitar technique and basic lessons. The site is in its infant stages but i have uploaded 3 basic vids.

Basically each week i will try to post up a vid showcasing how to play a particular song (the first one is paint it black) and maybe a vid on some form of technique. This is all acoustic guitar.

Im no expert but figure its a good way to kill time and hopefully provide some usefull info to people and hopefully i will get better at showcasing this the more i do.

Let me know what you thinks so far and please offer any suggestions

Anyway Rock On and Catch some decent waves - i know i have been recently :D

slap'ada'base sounds like something a local bruddah would say. are you part hawaiian?

i think its a cool site, i dont play, but its a good hobby and the internet is for sharing. i wish i knew a site like it when i was trying to learn, all i knew was guitartabs.com

i was just reading an article on all the youtubing, wikipedia, info/file sharing participation and how its producing and consuming rather than most old media which is just consuming, and has changed the way we will see entertainment in the future.

cool site mate.... glad you don't over explain as so many others do. well laid out. think the ones with the complete tab at the side of the vid might be a bit more useful tho. you can just pause after the lesson and figure out your own way then. can already play the ones you have but looking forward to one that i can't. keep em coming.

yeah...finger picking lessons aside. all most people really need is the chords and the gist of it. after that most people figure out their own way. have seen so many vids on youtube of guys explaining a 4 chord song for 10 minutes.

idea for a lesson that would be really useful bringing beginners on a bit... alternate chord positions. have seen so many people playing for years pretty much stuck to the first 3 or 4 frets of the fretboard. have tried showing people in the past by the 1st, 3rd and 5th note method and they usually switch off as soon as i mention scales. maybe you could have better luck maing it more interesting. maybe just show the alternate and demonstrate how you could fit it in to a song or something. just an idea.

^^ i think it is so important every guitarist has full knowledge of the notes on a fret board so if i said show me every position an A note is you could - suprising how many dont :-) Another thing i want to get a lesson pegged on is using a CAPO im just amazed to see guitarists (whom play better than me) have no idea what to do with one and why you would want to i.e its not just for changing key to suit voice etc etc.

Soo much to go through guess i will upload a few new stuff on saturday or sunday.

I have a friend, whom I haven't seen for 15years (!), he was taught and practiced guitar three hours a day minimum since he was six.

Just unreal - the best I have ever heard - be it on the tele' or radio or anywhere including CD's and Top Of the Old Pops- and the 60's greats. He must be mid thirties now.

Dang I'd buy him a studio session and get a best seller out of him without even trying.
Just goes to show that practice does make perfect - Go For It Youz 'All ........

(I'm really appalling – like strangling a cat through the amplifier !).

Was it as apocolyptic as they say it is? Living proof of scare-mongering?

^^^ i think people are affected by it differently, It basically completely debilitated me. But hopefully i have got past the worst of it. I have heard people who had it and considered it a mild flu. My buddy (whom i presumably got the dam thing from) looked like he was gonna die. So i dunno but that was a few days worth of hell id rather forget  Worst of it is that there is huge swell on the horizon and i aint fit enough to surf im still reeling :(

^^^ yup thats what a lot of people have been saying about the swine flu. I had it then it seemed to go away after a two or three days then i had a relapse and it took me over 3 weeks to recover. For a few of the days it was pretty serious.

Anyway back on music - gonna get back to doing some vids my next lot will be from a band called "edgar broughton band" so for those old enough or into underground late 60;s early 70's london rock this is a must. Gonna do a few of them then maybe do some stones/ beatles covers if i get a chance.

Till then rock on :-)
