Returning After a Hiatus

Postby thawkwood » Sat Oct 10, 2009 10:42 pm

Hey All.

It's been a good while since I last posted. A lot's changed since then. I've deployed to Iraq attached to a US Army formation while I was still with the US Navy. I recently completed my Navy service and transferred into the Army and finished my first week of officer advanced training before I report to my unit in Fort Irwin California. I plan to settle in Cali after my three year Army tour while serving with the California National Guard.

Looking forward to the SoCal surfing scene on the weekends (mostly around the LA and SD areas).

I am also coming back to the forum off and on and I am on the other end of the spectrum of getting out of the Army in April.... woohoo! Been a fun time and probably if all goes to plan be back in my unit once my little girls are in school. But since being in the Army I had plenty of time to surf because I made it my "escape" and my wife and family understand my urge and need to be in the water. Nothing is better after a deployment to Iraq and being in a desert to come home to march over some sand to see a "near" perfect set fall and being able to go into an Ocean and not a trash riddled river like over there.
