Well - sold the log!!! It's gone!!

The thing is now that i'm gigging with the band most weekends, the oppoortunity to surf has kinda dwindled. So I thought i'd out it. Figured I can hire a board and maybe get an idea of what I really want in the future.

The old VW bus has gone too. It's a good feeling to have a clear-out especially when it turns into cash!!

BUT................................ Have I done the right thing, people??????????????????

You're honestly asking a surfing forum whether selling your board and your VW is the right thing to do?!

I got rid of my old wv van ages ago - I kept the boards but they are all custom so no way are they going anywhere !

yes. i hope i dont get blocked from the site for this, but.. you live in england. the surf is cold and messy and dirty and irregular like a prostitute with a drug addiction. if surfing is really that important to you you would have moved to hawaii ages ago.

DBB - Yup, I escaped the VW surf thing stereo-type

I feel good about it all - as much as I loved the bus, it was costing me money and not gettin used, so it has to go. The board, I felt, wasn't right for me.

So, some of the cash will no doubt find its way to fund another board. You see Sar, win-win!!!

I'm surprised Essex hasn't blessed us with his wisdom on the matter...

i've only just got round to reading this... some interesting responses!

I think you've totally done the right thing. If you're not surfing much and enjoying other hobbies instead, then it makes sense, especially if the board wasn't right for you in the first place. if you were really attached to the vw or the board, it would have been FAR too difficult to part with them, and if you weren't attached to them then you didn't need them!

This way, you can save so much money by not throwing it all at your vw surf mobile which you don't use, and save it for other stuff including renting a few boards to see what suits, and buying a better board later on when the time is right.

just because you sold your board and van doesn't mean you're never going to surf again... and if you're enjoying doing other things then what's wrong with that?!!!

Despite the fact that i do miss not being able to surf, I've come to realize that surfing isn't everything! playing in a band can be just as much fun (well, almost) and at least if you ever have a weekend free and suddenly decide you want to surf, you can easily hire some gear for a day every now and again and mess around on some lovely summer ripples

Dude, we all go through stages. I boogieboarded growing up then sold it when I got married. Got divorced and instead of picking up the sport again I started surfing.
