Hi. I had an ankle injury 4yrs ago and it has made my ankle unstable. I know surfing requires a lot of ankle strength. Is it still possible for me to surf, even though my ankle is in the best shape?

I managed to surf with my knee bound solid - torn cruciate ligaments - nothing worse :( (well,er,I was told to exercise it by my physio :D !).

Your ankle ? I'd say it's okay if it don't make you squeal in agony - just bind it tight but make sure you can get the binding off quickly in case it gets too tight while you surf :? .

I remember being in more pain from the binding than the injury once - I just had to get the Gaffa tape and bandages off ASAP - nearly went bonkers in the car park !

So if you do bind it and go in - don't be a hero and have a nice surf.

My buddy broke his ankle while surfing, he was back in the water in probably a year.
