The Sinista Penguin Respray Project!

Postby sinistapenguin » Wed Feb 18, 2009 9:23 pm

Hi All

Last weekend, I went to my local tip - in Leamington Spa! I was mooching around the shop they have and guess what I found?

A 6ft round tail shortboard!!!!!No really! - I asked the woman how much..........

£2 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I bought it, and am now planning to patch it up, reseal the bits of glass that need work and re-spray it. I appreciate that this could end up looking like :yearght: !!!

Here's some pictures of it (taken on my phone so they're a bit rubbish). The first 2 are when I first got it home and the rest are after I cleaned the wax off it (which took some doing!!). Most of the dings have been repaired well, so it can't hurt to try!?

I love the early 90's style. I have thought about picking up one of the cheapos off the internet classifieds.

I'll give you £4 for it!
100% profit can't get fairer than that! :D

Whats the rocker like? I'm guessing it'll be pretty flat and has got a "V" tail. Lots of toe in on those fins 2, pointing straight at the nose of the board.

This is more of an exercise in design than surfboard construction.

I have re-glassed all the holes and dings though and am quite pleased with the results.

Yes.

Then you can leave as (not advisable) or spray clear coat on or add a hot another hot coat on (which i imagine would last waay longer than clea coat)

More pics!!

This is the repair job I did - I know it could have been better, but the whole board is so covered in dents etc that it was never going to look perfect anyway!

This is it after the first coat of primer paint:

Looking good I think! Although I do appear to have put a light dusting of primer all over my neighbours brand new 4x4!!

Will post more when I've got some colour on it!
