Been a bit accident prone recently and i thought i'd share my mis fortunes with you all!

First one is a kitesurfing injury from a couple of weeks ago.

Image

and the second one is from saturday when i sliced my finger open on a rather unexpectedly sharp bit of metal!

Image

Anyone else been stupid recently and had a camera on hand to capture the carnage?

Nice.
I ran the Loch Ness marathon earlier this month in inappropriate footwear. I got huge blood blisters on each of my feet about the size of a mobile phone. I wish I'd take pictures of them but it hurt so much they just had to be burst!

me again  i was doing nothing more than tidying up my little patch of floor space i now call "home" and i dislocted my thumb    i was in too much pain at the time to think of taking a pic of it hanging off!!! but here's my pot:

Image

it's not too painful now it's back in place but I still get twinges now and again. they put it back in at the hospital cuz i couldn't manage it, and they put a cast on it, split down the side for all the swelling, which i've gotta wear for a while as they think it could pop out easily (i'm prone to dislocations!) i can't get it signed though as it's got a bandage round it so it doesn't come off where the split is i think :( i might take that off and get people to sign it anyhow! Seeing the hand specialist on wed. hope i don't have to wear it too long!

hahaha! everyone says that! well, yep, i knew the first names of most of the staff at the hospital where i lived, and was getting to know the names of the staff at the hospital close to where i surfed too  It was nice being on first name terms and even being able to direct other people to places like xray and helping new nurses find equipment and things!!! they used to have a good chuckle every time i came in with an injury... they also used to get me the best sarnies and extra food  !

i recently moved to a totally different area though... so no one knows me at my new hospital.....

.....yet

well, actually that's a lie, they do, cuz i have to go in to the ward for regular treatment for my condition, but staff in the emergency dept haven't had chance to get used to my accident prone nature yet!!!

Hey, i've got an ankle that looks just like that. Tweaked it all the way round so the sole of my foot was facing the sky with my full weight on it. Ankle fractured and joint so badly damaged that the foot fell out of the socket. No weight to be put on it for 2 months.

Ouch indeed! You would appear to have bettered my effort! Well done and i hope it gets better soon.
Uncanny simillarity to mine though, i'm still not convinced i didn't break mine ankle.

A snow boarding wipe out from a couple of years ago ..
The bruise is worse in the middle but I wont show it as you've seen enough of my crack I reckon.
The flight back on the economy seats was a real pleasure.

i just got told at the hospital today that i have a connective tissue disorder (ehlers-danlos syndrome) which causes hypermobile joints and is the reason i keep dislocating toes, my hip, my shoulder, and now my thumb. I've got to keep my splint on for 3 more months :( when i asked what i could do about it/ prevent it from happening again, i was told to "be careful" !!!!!     it's not like i'm trying to dislocate stuff!

i guess it's yet another thing to add to my long list of health problems!

oh, and i got my date for my other operation too - it's right before xmas
